It is to fear Him with awe and reverence.
It is fearing that He is not among you nor fighting for you.
Imagine living in this world without God on your side. It's a frightening thought, a frightening thought that evokes fear. This is the meaning of God fearing. Fearing that He is not with you or a part of your daily lives.
We need to know that our God is a jealous God and His anger leads to devastating wrath.
God's anger is kindled in our disobedience of His commandments and laws.
God's anger was kindled many a time in the book of Exodus (The exodus of the Israelites out of Egypt).
To truly grasp the wrath of God please take note of the Sin of Achan.
Joshua 7v16:-26.
The Israelites were defeated in AI and fled from battle as God was not among them in that battle. They lost the battle.
God was not among the Israelites in battle due to the sin of 1 man named Achan and what Achan had stolen during the time of Jericho's ruin.
When God in all His righteousness brought Achan out of the Israelite tribes for his lawlessness, He did so as He was angered by being disobeyed and dishonored.
By one man's sin God was not among any of the tribes of Israel in battle which left Israel defeated.
Do we really want to be living our life in this world without God amongst us?
Understand that the one and only God that is our God has a devastating wrath, a wrath that Joshua Chapter 7v24 speaks of.
For Achan's sin, Achan and all that was his, including his sons and daughters were stoned to death by the Israelites.
Let us ask;
If God's wrath required you to be stoned to death by your tribe (community) today for your sins, would you still be disobeying and dishonoring God? Would you still be living your life of sin?
Let us ask;
If you knew your sins were the cause of the people you loved the most (your family, your friends, your loved ones) misfortunes, hardships, financial worries, depression, suicidal thoughts, worldly discomfort and their failures? Would you still be living your life of sin?
When will we fall to our knees and repent of our ways and begin to live the way in Christ that pleases our Mighty God?
God tells us that we are forgiven, we are redeemed, we are saved, we are loved, we are a child of God.
Repent and surrender.
Through Jesus Christ our King we are saved.
However,
God also tells us to honor, obey and keep his commandments and laws.
They have not been done away with.
When will we begin to understand the blessings God wants to bless us and all our closest loved ones with through our obedience?
When will our behavior allow Him too.
When will we begin to obey and understand that it is NOT only us that bears the consequence of our sins but that those believers close and afar will suffer God's wrath too.
As a community in Christ we rely on each others obedience to God as much as we do our own.
Each time you’re tempted to sin remember the cost that your fellow community members in Christ may suffer at your hand.
God bless you, Child of God.
